Our 4th grade & up multi subject enrichment cooking class is designed to bring the textbook to life for our big kids. This class is a unique blend of essential life skills, and combining fun with learning across all school subjects.
Students are not only learning and digesting tons of information in their main subjects but also getting hands on rich learning experiences that bring a book, and concepts to life. Students will be challenged to work independently, and in teams to follow instruction for the day. We challenge our students to double, or half recipes at times to practice math skills, we allow students to present their meal, talk about what they’ve created, what they can change. We speak about ingredients, and properly sourcing them. We experience basic life recipes like making bread, butter, cheeses etc and build upon those skills. We cover science topics when we bake, math through recipes, social students with origin to the recipe, and english through public presentation and more. Our students learn how to properly chop, dice, peel, measure, mix etc) in a fun + unique way.
Every semester we end with a “final presentation”. We give the student a basket full of ingredients and challenging students to create a dish for the class, giving us the origin of the recipe, the recipe itself, and creating the recipe under a set time with assistance.
